CALABASAS
CONTEMPORARY

This kitchen renovation called for the removal of walls to create a clean, open, light-filled gathering place in this Calabasas home. Contrasting pale contemporary cabinetry with dark stone counters and a marble backsplash bring warmth and texture to the space. Clever extensions of the island countertop created seating that was careful not to compromise the flow of traffic while still allowing friends to visit with the cook when entertaining. An extension of the kitchen cabinetry in the hall beyond the kitchen provided substantial pantry storage, as well.

The project also included bringing natural light into an adjacent hallway. Carawan Architecture strategically placed skylights in the hall ceiling to bounce light off the clean, white walls.
